What we do
In terms of procurement, we have the ability to purchase green steel from our steel producers. This means that our customers have the opportunity to choose between standard steel or green steel. Our green steel quotation highlights the different options in green steel and indicates the advantages for choosing green steel.
Optimized process
In order to be able to offer you green steel, our various steel producers use an optimized production process. This optimized production process has been available since 2016. In the optimized production process, CO2 -reduced steel is produced.
CO2-reduced steel, so called ‘Green Steel’, has caused less CO2 emission during its production from cradle to gate. So from the exploration of iron ore and other ingredients, the production of pig iron and processing to flat steel – in comparison to conventional process routes (Blast Furnace & Basic Oxygen Furnace). This reduction can be realized by the following options and also a combination of these options:
- CO2-optimized ingredients: For example, high-grade iron ore, a larger portion of scrap, and more HBI (Hot Briquetted Iron)
- Switch to a different production process:
- Electric Arc Furnaces: Using renewable electricity and scrap as main ingredients.
- Using Green Hydrogen (H2): As a reduction ingredient instead of coal and coke.
The steps above and raw materials ensure that we can provide you with sustainably produced steel.
Green steel certificate and award
Customers who choose to do a project with green steel will receive a certificate and award upon completion of the project. This certificate and award serve as proof of a warehouse built with green steel. In addition, we offer to professionally portray the project with a photographer and cameraman. This way, you have the opportunity to share professional images with your own customers.
